Many parents seek education for their children which will put each young person at the centre of interest and help foster his or her talents and interests. For talented boys between nine and nineteen years of age, the Dresdner Kreuzchor provides the combination of comprehensive musical training and high-quality school education. And it certainly inspires a sense of pride to sing in a world-famous boys' choir, even as a child.

Boys who wish to take up the challenge should have a good singing voice, do well in school, and should not be older than nine. After passing the aptitude test, the musical preparation for the entrance exam at the end of grade 3 will be coordinated individually.

Requirements for admission to the Dresdner Kreuzchor

Boys from Dresden and the surrounding area may attend the singing hour, which takes place once a week, from as early as the second term of the 1st grade. In the following school year they are introduced to the basics of musical theory in groups. After passing the intermediate exam the preparatory class 3 is assembled. The children then attend a class appendant to the 63rd Grundschule (Primary School) in Dresden and receive an intensive musical training that is adapted to a choir career.

Furthermore, parents have the option to register their children to attending the music class of the 63rd Grundschule from the very beginning of the child's schooling.

Boys who join us from outside the region around Dresden can obtain the necessary prior information at a music school or from the choir master in their hometown.

The first year of choir membership and schooling is treated as a probational year for all Crucians.
